Thomas Howard
State Sr. Vice Commander - Navy

Mr. Howard was born in Utica, New York. He lived in Waterville, New York until 1968 moving to Floyd, New York where he graduated from Holland Patient School in 1970.

                      After graduating Mr. Howard joined the Navy. He served twenty-one years and six months retiring in 1992.  During his career in the Navy he received two Navy Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, four Sea Service awards, a Humanitarian Service award, two awards for Battle E (best combat ship), M-14 Marksmanship Badge, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and holds NEC for Minesweeper and Craft Master.   

                      Mr. Howard earned his eligibility to the VFW from his service in Desert Storm/Desert Shield. He joined the VFW in 1991 in California. He joined 1993 progressed through the chairs at his post 8259 to the position of Commander.  He progressed through the chairs at the Adirondack Mohawk County Council and District 4 achieving the office in Commander in both.

                      Mr. Howard is also active in the Military Order of the Cootie holding many positions to include the Grand Commander of the State of New York from 2016 to the present.

                      Mr. Howard has held many positions in the Department of New York to include State Inspector, State Vice Chairperson for Membership and State Chief-of-Staff, and State Jr. Vice Commander.

                    Mr. Howard is currently the State Sr. Vice Commander

                    He is married to his wife Cathy of 23 years and they have 4 children and 14 Grandchildren.
